Don Bluth said that,
'I never concentrate on doing good sketches on the first pass, but place my focus instead on the emotional power that emerges from my imagination. With each new sketch,
I ask myself the same TWO QUESTION:
What Am I Trying to Say,
&
If I can't answer these two questions, I'm not ready to draw, so I put the pencil down. '
(page. 22)
::What do you think? It apply in doing animation as well, If I can't answer these two questions, I'm not ready to animate...::
FYI, this is a very fun book to read at. Mr. Bluth shared his view of his career, not the history nor the drawing skill, but the positive attitude that we need all the time. Mr. Bluth showed his talent; moreover, his passionate in storytelling industry.

My last week Storyboard class assignment-
Here is your story: two characters are traveling down a road or path and something falls from the sky.
Can you believe this?! I created such cliché gag into my storyboard in 21st century.....!!! I'm running out of idea...
Oh~ by the way, the final ending could be a coke logo, or sprite, or pepsi.... whichever accept such cliché idea... Enjoy~

Everything's nice, except I felt a lil weird of the fact that the coke bottle is opened that way~ :P
What I personally think is that a level of believability is probably needed there. Otherwise, great work over all! :]
You have a good sense of drawing skills! :D If anything I am surprised I don't see your drawings enough. Haha! Cute idea too, except I think some of the actions came across unclear. The way the guy drinks from the bigger bottle seems funny, I would just stick a straw there to get rid of the way he sucks from on top (which I don't think would work in terms of physics?).. Haha! A quick solution to it. :D
Still, nice board!!
Cliche isn't entirely a bad thing really. If it works, that's why it's commonly used, and that's why it's called Cliche. If it's entirely new and strange to people as an idea, it might confuse people what are you trying to do, and it might comes out worst. Learn the rules before breaking them! So don't worry about cliche too much for now. Mainly just have fun and try to improve your idea as you go along is the best thing to do.
Haha thanks thanks!
Justin- I did think of the way of open the coke bottle, but when I came across with the pace of the shorts, just feel a short like this would work out better! =)
Hammy- Drinking with a straw is really good suggestion! I can imagine the scene would be even more funny! Abt the cliche issue, I've to admit that I'm running out of idea.. there's nothing I can say.. it's time to gather more ideas!! I D E A S ! ! ! !
